Have we just abandened common sense?
I vote YES, as a society we have.

If true, there may be some problems in store for the good doctor. However, if he did not feel there was any real threat, and also because of Doctor-Patient confidentiality laws, well, there may be a bit of a conundrum for prosecutors.
And like I said previously, this just keeps getting more weird with each passing report from the media.

We'll have to wait and see how this all shakes down. I had heard that the journal was still in the university mailroom and hadn't been delivered when it was taken by investigators.

Another point from the same report is that the psychiatrist was treating approximately 20
graduate students. Whether they were from the same program, I don't know. Makes you wonder if PhD really does stand for "post hole digger" or "piled higher and deeper."

I think common sense is on life support with a chance of recovery...............

    Default To be commended

The rapid response by the Aurora PD and the briefings held by the Chief are examples of how it should be done. Job well done you have set the bar high.

In fact thank you to everyone of the thin blue line both past and present.

On a slightly lighter note, I had a student in my NRA Basic Pistol class last Saturday from Aurora CO. He told me that he lived only 10 minutes from the theater and had friends that were there.
He decided it was time to get trained and get a firearm.

Excellent a new Sheepdog in the making.

I read a very well written argument stating that there is no way the average citizen can respond to armed threats. It was so persuasive I almost almost bought into his line of thought.

However then I recalled the stories of the teenage mother protecting her child from home invaders. Of course there was the 65 year old jewlery store owner who managed to scare off five armed robbers. Packing pizza and a pistol a delivery driver fought off two men armed with shotguns. Then there is the grandmother who wounded the home intruder with her .38 revolver. These stories come to us from coast to coast and Americas heartland.

These "average" citizens managed to defend themselves and others around them. I would have to say that a little nugget of Rambo is alive and well and living in many who would otherwise be judged as sheep. Maybe places like Chicago need to take note. American citizens want the right to defend themselves.

Aside from wishing we could have had a few Sheep Dogs there...
I'm glad he was using a beta-mag instead of a new Surefire 60-100 rounder (or just multiple 30's).
We would have been burying more innocents if it he'd had more reliable... weaponry...

It has come to my attention that James E. Holmes MAY have a brain tumor or a chemical imbalance that may have caused him to act the way he did. A cat scan and testing would perhaps reveal these issues. If true the problem then would be to determine if he could be judged insane based on these findings.
