Default Piers Morgan, the lesson that almost was.

Now that Piers Morgan has made it public I can announce that last week the range I work at was contacted by his producer in regards to his coming to Texas to get a feel for "gun culture." For a few days, while the owners contemplated their decision, I was going to be the instructor assigned to give PM a lesson. I was looking forward to the challenge and opportunity. However, our owners elected to not host him for his broadcast.

    Cool

I'm not a fan of the lame-stream media term, "gun culture". They use it to paint everyone and anyone who owns a firearm with the same broad brush. In their reporting they portray the spree killer who shoots people with an AR-15 and the responsible, law abiding citizen who owns an AR-15 as both being part of the same "gun culture".

That's like saying men who rape and honest, law abiding men who are sexually active are both part of the same "sex culture".

As for Piers Morgan, he's a typical euro-socialist who believes "government-knows-best". Historical truth be told, if it wasn't for gun-toting Americans, Mr. Morgan's homeland would've wound up as the smallest province in the Soviet Union.

Yes, "looking forward to the challenge" ... and a challenge it would be.

Speaking of ranges, my shooting bud and I were at our new OMB indoor range. which just recently opened, and he and I are single-digit numbered members. It was a very slow day a week ago last Thursday. We were the only ones on the line, until the door opened and in came Chad Myer (the manager, and a real nice guy)with an AR-15 and an ear-muffed civilian (carrying.... a camera. Hmm.)

Bud and I are murdering paper, when suddenly, Chad is ripping off 3-round bursts full-auto two bays down from us and the camera dude is in the booth East of him and is peaking around corner and taking pics. Chad pops a few singles semi-auto, and then, dumped a full mag, full auto. So now.... I wondering down there to scope it out.

Come to find out, the pic guy is from our local commie rag, The Kansas City (Red) Star and they are doing an article on firearms. My bud and I are kind of moving away... firearms, the KC Star, and cameras are not my idea of a good mix.

But then, Chad comes out with a BMG .50 caliber sniper rig. Gee, I didn't know you could fire artillery indoors. What's next, mortars? This could test our muffs. And.... it did. Big bang, pics taken, and then they were gone.

This morning was a large 2-page article with a pic of Chad shooting the AR with the proper amount of flame leaping out. My bud and I were far enough back to stay out of the picture. The BMG didn't make the cut. I won't bore you with the link to the article.... it was the same old crap warmed over.

They have a new promo... you can blast the BMG, and for an extra 10 bucks, have you name engraved on the brass. Don't know the blast cost is, but I think I'll look into it. It might even be a story... you know, a qualified sniper 50 years between sniper rifles. Naa, probably not.

    INDOORS??? I'm thinking NO.

TV people at my indoor arrived and nobody wanted to be in the background while they filmed.

Didn't see it but heard audio of Dipstick Morgan interviewing Ted Nugent.......did Morgan really not consider that he'd be sliced, diced and spit out? The man needs to go back to the land of his birth and vacate the colonies. We fought and won a war to get rid of those like him.

I was standing 4 feet from the thing. Actually, it wasn't really all that bad. Yes, big bang, but this beautiful range has discreet baffling all over the place. I use Peltor muffs and my bud works at Bass Pro and has their first line muffs.

Sgt T: Your name came up... Ray and I talked about how nice it would have been to have brought you to this place. It's about 800 yards west of Austin's, and can be seen at :

    http://www.ombrange.com/HOME.html

On the left side at the bottom there are a set of pictures. The last one in the string shows the electronic target set. It's in meters and you can program a set distance, can quickly buzz it back to you to check it out, and fly it out to the exact place again. Note reference to .50 caliber.Your range probably compares, but this one is a bid deal to us hicks in Kansas. Hope your son is doing well. I'm outta' here, don't want to highjack.
