Thread: I hope this is a rumor.

Default I hope this is a rumor.

The military is considering a medal for "Courageous Restraint" to be given to any service member who shows courage enough NOT to fire their weapon at the enemy if it would violate ROE, or endanger innocents.

Aside from the fact that this is EXPECTED of us it makes perfect sense.
After all; we have a "president" who won the Nobel Prize for doing nothing.

And I never fired my weapon at the enemy. So when do I get my medal??

A metal for doing your job? Naa, hadn't heard that one.

I must state however, that with this Administration it is not only possible but probable.

Maybe like the Dork Award.....does not fire on civilian. Civilian walks to the trooper and blows himself up. Most issued posthumously.

I would be howling with laughter if it wasn't so stupid, nuts, whatever. I heard the same thing. This goes right along with the "everybody gets a medal, there are no winners or losers" that goes on in schools.

Those who come up with this crap are certainly not survivors.................

It was proposed. Sec Def Gates shot it down thankfully.

It was about as bad as the idea they kicked around about giving the purple heart to those who suffer from PTSD.

This medal was proposed by a Bristish general officer assigned to a NATO command in Afghanistan I believe. Fortunately not considered appropriate for US forces by SecDef Gates.
