    Default Ammo Supplies

During a few hours today, I went to most of the major gun stores and ammo houses in my area. I had been reading a lot in the last few weeks about the renewed shortage of almost all sizes of ammo. Those people need to shop in my town. There were tons of ammo available at much better prices than I have seen in a couple of years. Even defense rounds for 380's were in the mid-twenty range. The last time I really looked, the same rounds were mid to high thirty dollar range. Wally World even had the Remington Mega Pacs (250) of .38 Spec, 9mm, .40 and .45. Maybe I need to stock up again but I have over 1K rounds for each of the size that I need except .380. I need a few 30 round banana mag. for my Hi Point 995 Carbine. That would cut down on the surplus.

I also have had no trouble getting ammo. I rarely shop at Wally World, but lately they have had
Federal .223 in the 200 pks for $76.59 which is the best I have found anywhere. I have been shooting a lot of it and it is great ammo for the price.
I need to get the dies for 9mm, now that my wife is shooting it consistently, will pay to reload. And a ready supply of 380auto is also available. I haven't been shooting a lot of it as I also need the dies for them and for a while wasn't much available.

I go along right behind Michael and steal his ammo right out of his shopping cart while is is busy loading up the car .. so i have plenty of ammo, especially .223 ammo which michael prefers to buy .. lots of ammo out there if you are resourceful ...

Picked up a 100 rd box of .380 at WW a few weeks ago. They haven't had any since, at least not that I've come across. I figure I'll get about 500 rds, or so and maybe even get a .380 pistol.

The 9mm is in good supply here, but .380 is still rare and expensive. Fortunately, I only need it for the BUG.

Lake City Ammunition is local, and the largest small arms ammunition supplier in the country. (I'm sure glad the stupid paper announced this to the terrorists), and they are 24/7 trying to keep up. And it's not just us.....we also supply ammo for NATO members and others.

Just yesterday myself and a buddy took a long drive to a large gun store known for always having a large inventory of ammo. The ONLY ammo being rationed, one box to a customer per day, was .380. They had mountains of everything else.

I zero'd in on one of my all time favorites, CCI .44 Special 200 Grain Speer Gold Dot Jacketed Hollowpoint, boxes of 50 for only $29.99. I relieved them of 500 of these very effective and accurate rounds.

Yes I know, my heavy, all-steel S&W .44 Special six-shooters are viewed as prehistoric these days, but they still feel oh-so-good to me.

A lot more available around here with the once-scarce .380 showing up occasionally.

While ammo is still available I will refer to a chinese proverb, "Dig the well before you are thirsty." This would be a good time to add to your inventory, even calibers you don't have firearms for, such as .40S&W and .380 for me. Ammo will most likely be the currency of the future.

Bebo....you haven't thought it all the way through....I see you behind me taking my ammo...thats why I just shoot 'yours' when at the range....hell, I paid for it!

Hoping to be shooting Friday, a friend of mine just got access to the steel shed at Rifle Gun Club so we can set up the poppers, turn and drops, texas stars...so much more fun than just paper. Will let you know how much of my ammo to bring!
