    Talking Winter is Mosquito Season

I just couldn't resist. Stopped in at the local gun dealer and wound up walking out with a Sig Sauer Mosquito in Winter Digital Camo.

Did I need it? No, but it was just too kool for me not to give it a good home.

Yeah that was my first impression too. I really don't "need" anything in the way of firearms anymore, so I look for the unusual, rare, or "cool". They also just got in a Sig P238 "Copperhead".....VERY COOL!

But I decided to just take home the Mosquito.....for now.

Sig says to use CCI Mini-Mag ammo so I got a bunch. I'm looking forward to banging 100 rounds or so thru it this Sunday. We'll see if this Mosquito bites as good as it looks.

Cool! Make sure that you stick with the Mini-Mag. I've heard from many people that using any-old ammo in a mosquito tends to get very frustrating; although, it might give you plenty of practice at clearing malfunctions

With the right ammo, it should be a very fun little gun

I REALLY REALLY LIKE (WANT!!!) the p238 Copperhead...or at least a p238... Sometimes you just need a little back-up... and it might as well look (and feel) great

The Mosquito is a nice shooter but ammo sensitive. One of students, just about to turn 9, has one and he does well with it. His mom has a Sig 239 Platinum edition and a Sig 238 with the chromatic finish.

    200 Rounds Later

200 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag flew thru the Mosquito yesterday without one malfunction. 100 rounds of full jacketed roundnose, followed by 100 rounds of jacketed hollowpoints. I put it in the hands of several different shooters, who all were first attracted to it by the Winter Digital Camo finish, and none of them wanted to stop shooting it.

I regularly keep a .22 at the ready for annoying, destructive critters (porcupine, skunk, racoon) that make the fatal mistake of setting up shop on our land. A .22 to the head makes for a quick dispatch, and a hearty meal for whoever gets to it first, fox, owl, hawk, eagle, coyote, black bear, etc. Up till now my critter-control .22 has always been a revolver, but I think this winter I'll give the Mosquito a "shot" at the job.

I picked up the matching paddle security holster from Sig that also carries a spare mag. As expected it's a perfect fit for the pistol and very comfortable to wear.

All in all the Mosquito was flawless, accurate, and FUN.

    Jim
