Default Do You Support The Liberals?

Anymore, I’m really puzzled by many of the so-called conservatives that I have contact with. Most seem to be conservative when it feels good but have little concern about supporting some of the most liberal of liberals when the mood strikes them.

One good example of this is the hypocrisy of these conservatives’ attitude toward Hollywood and its stars. Unfortunately, the Hollywood of today represents the uber-socialist, progressive attitude at virtually every turn. It is disgusting when the average conservative openly supports the likes of Matt Damon, Madonna, Sean Penn, Jane Fonda, Alec Baldwin, Sheryl Crow and hundreds of others by paying to attend their “art” or buying their DVD or by watching them on TV. When questioning these conservatives about such support, they will inevitably say that it isn’t support for the liberal cause but for a movie or song that they enjoy. Regrettably, there is over a 70% chance that some of the money that a conservative spends on such events/products will reach the far-left in the form of political contributions.

The less than humorous irony of such issues is that, without conservative support, the likes of Matt Damon would be cleaning horse stalls to feed himself instead of living large and openly berating America. It is estimated that two thirds of his box-office comes from those who consistently vote for conservative political candidates. Damon’s “Green Zone” is widely considered one of the most anti-American movies ever produced yet was principally supported by conservative box-office money. The fact that this movie was based on a novel written by a journalist from the Washington Post, one of the most liberal rags in this country, shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Even watching on TV supports the clueless Hollywood set because royalties are paid to them for TV presentation. If their viewership dropped by 50%, these shows that help support the liberals would disappear. Make every dollar you spend mean something and make certain that it does not end up sponsoring the wrong crowd. Pay attention to companies that sponsor anti-conservative causes; those who put their advertising behind liberal agendas. It’s simple to boycott their products… just don’t buy them! Think twice before adding your own support to propping up a socialist aspiring government.
If Obama is the answer, the question must have been really stupid!

There's been a push for a long, long time to compartmentalize many things in life. We just heard classic examples of this with many members of the media, TV, etc. during the whole Weiner thing. The line usually goes something like, "Their personal life does not affect their work, blah, blah, blah, yada, yada yada."

In my opinion, an individual's personal life and all that they do is indicative of their [I]character and integrity[I] which is who the individual is....period. I will not support those who push or promote the brainwashing that goes along with being liberal, progressive, socialist, etc. These people are sheep whether they realize it or not and if their "big revolution" ever came about they would be eliminated by those in charge that they now admire and follow. They're being suckered big time and are too dumb to recognize that fact. Remember how the Nazis originally linked arms with the commies in Germany when they were getting started? They then eliminated them.

I will watch a movie or buy a cd if the person is a democrat but I refuse if the person is an activist. One holds a diffrent opinion than I but the other is actively trying to destroy what I belive.

Am I giving in too much?

I don't think so, America is about having different opinions. When they start preaching outside their "jobs" however, due to the natural audience they have for everything, then they have to be moved to the activist category, eh?

    Didn't know about Matt Damon...........

Matt Damon just canceled his fund raiser on 6/19 in NYC ($25,000.00/head) for Weiner... but only after Weiner resigned. Damon is one of obama's best fundraisers and ranks as Hollywood's #1 activist for liberal causes. He was very involved in obama's inauguration events. He routinely gives speeches and makes appearances for almost all socialist agendas. He is actively involved in several UN organizations that are almost entirely foreign based advocacy programs, "teaching" liberal philosophy. He lists as one of his main interests, the Millennium Promise which is a George Soros funded non-profit organization.

You just don't get much worse which is really unfortunate because he was a pretty fair actor in his earlier movies and does the type of movie that I often enjoy. After saying that, I will also admit that he has some good charitable interests in the area of cancer research but his extreme activist role surpasses anything that I can just overlook. He makes Pelosi look like a right-winger. Sad.

    Icon6 Lights, Camera, Action!

For me personally, the subject matter of the movie and the story-line message, if any, are the most important deciding factors.

I have very little in common with the political beliefs of Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg, however, I admire and respect their dedication to artistic excellence in film making. Their movies are among my all-time very favorites.

For example,Coppola, a typical hollywood-liberal, wrote the script for one of my all-time favorite flicks, PATTON, starring George C. Scott. Am I going to deprive myself from enjoying this great film simply because of the political beliefs of those who brought it to the big screen? Hell No!

A good flick is a good flick. I don't care who wrote it, produced it, directed it, or who stars in it.

Am I going to deprive myself from seeing and enjoying a GREAT-FLICK like BLACKHAWK DOWN because the producer, director, and actors are all left-leaning? Hell No!

On the flip side, am I going to knowingly go to a movie that has a clearly obvious Anti-American message simply because I like the producer, director, or actors? Hell No!

I can enjoy a person's art while at the same time be in disagreement with their political beliefs.

    See You At The Movies,

I had NO IDEA! Wow!! With all of the above, he does make Pelosi look like a right winger! Thanks for the info.

And, Jim, I agree that I would never pay for any movie, etc. with an anti-American message just because I liked a certain director or actor either. Content is my main concern.

Interesting thread with good points made on both sides.

But, like Jim, I tend to look at the product, even if I disagree with it's producer.

One could liken something like this to the shameless O'Bummer shills at General Electric. But... their engines power the spear's tip of freedom that strikes fear in the hearts of tyrants everywhere.

    Unhappy

Each to his own. We, as citizens, can't do anything about the crappiness of GE except to refuse to buy their consumer products which is a no brainer but we, as citizens, can certainly refrain from supporting a communist's "entertainment." I'll have to admit that I am somewhat astonished by some of the replies to this thread. I was not expecting it. If we refuse to support our own principals, then we are finished. They have won.
