Icon6 Police Find Driver Holding Gun On Wounded Intruder

"Police arrived to find the driver holding the gun on the wounded intruder. The driver immediately surrendered. The shooter will be released, police said, and will not face charges."

Keep in mind when responding police arrive at a scene they will not know who the good guys and bad guys are. This "driver" did exactly the right thing. OBEY the orders the police are giving you exactly. Now is not the moment to explain your actions. Shut up and listen.

Expect that you may be handcuffed and searched. In some jurisdictions it's police department policy that you will be arrested and booked as a "suspect" in an assault or homicide. In this case, expect to be fingerprinted and photographed. Remember, whether or not your actions were justified is not up to the responding, uniformed officers. They'll just follow whatever their department-policy is.

Expect that your handgun will be impounded as evidence until final disposition of the criminal case. This may be days, weeks, months, or even years. If that was your only carry-piece, you are now unarmed. If "friends" of the man you shot decide to pay you a visit to dish out a little payback it'd be nice if your holster wasn't empty.
Remember the old survival creed of, "Two is One, and One is NONE".

Granted, some jurisdictions will treat you better than other jurisdictions, but when the first uniformed police arrive always remember THEY are now in charge. My advice is to obey their commands immediately.

Home Intruder Shot After Threatening Man, Kids With Knife

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. -- A man sitting in a parked car shot an alleged home intruder Monday morning after being threatened by the man himself, police said.

The incident happened just after 8 a.m. Monday when a homeowner on Stetson Avenue discovered a man in his kitchen rummaging through the cabinets, said Bainbridge Island Police Chief Jon Felman.

The intruder grabbed a large knife and came at the homeowner, who ran into the backyard while repeatedly telling the intruder to leave, Felman said.

But when the intruder began to reach for the homeowner's kids, the homeowner armed himself with a large claw hammer, sending the intruder running onto the street.

A witness spotted the intruder confront another man sitting in a parked car in the 500 block of Wood Ave. As the knife-wielding man moved closer, Felman said the driver pulled out a gun and fired three shots, which all struck the intruder in his lower body.

Police arrived to find the driver holding the gun on the wounded intruder. The driver immediately surrendered, and the intruder was taken to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. His condition was not available.

The shooter will be released, police said, and will not face charges.

    Great Advice Jim!

If anyone here has not taken a MAG-40 class from Massad Ayoob, then they SHOULD!! What Jim stated is amplified by three fold with Mas. He has been in court defending self defense cases for the last 15 years...and I believe he is the ultimate expert...aqnd if you complete the MAG-40 class, Mas will be a expert technical witness in court FOR FREE if you get involved in a self defense shooting.
