Icon14 New Member: just a little about me.

Why I decided at 62 to pick up a handgun and learn to shoot. Seems the world can be a cruel place. I believe in the goodness of man, but acknowledge EVIL exists. I wanted to be able to protect my wife, kids and grand kids, to the best of my ability. A friend took me to a gun range last November. he brought along a Charter Arms .38 revolver, Ruger LCP, Ruger SR9 and a Ruger SR40C. We spent two hours there. Afterward he asked two questions....A) How did i like it & B) Which gun caught my attention. about three weeks later at a gun show i purchased a Ruger SR40C. Took a beginners class, CHL Class and have had about ten hours so far of range time. I hope to get my conceal license early March, as it has almost been 30 days since i submitted the paperwork to TX DPS.

Welcome to the forum. Thank-you for your intelligent, lucid self-introduction.

The Ruger SR series of pistols are among the most underrated, excellent choice. Congrats to you for seeking out and attending training. You're in a great part of the country for you to continue to seek out professional training.

A very special thanks to the friend who took the time to take you to the range. We should all be doing that every chance we get. Soon it will be your turn to take a friend to the range.
